WEDDINGS

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

All Australian citizens must complete a “Notice of Intended Marriage” form (NIM).  This form must be lodged with me at least one month and one day before your wedding day and not more than eighteen months before your wedding day.  This form is available from me or can be downloaded from the Births, Deaths and Marriages site. Download NIM.  Legally I am required to sight your Birth Certificates and if born overseas your current Passport.  If either party has previously been married, I must sight your divorce paper (Decree Absolute) or Death Certificate if previous spouse died.  If  the necessary documents are in a language other than English they may need to be translated.  Witnesses to a marriage ceremony may be family or friends but must be over the age of eighteen.

WEDDINGS

Such a special day in your life requires a special person who will help you embrace the day fully.  My sincerity, warm personality and reliability will be shown to you at all times.

Confirmation that you would like me to celebrate your wedding will ensure that your date, time and venue is a secure booking.  At that time, a meeting can be arranged that suits all when we can complete the necessary paperwork and chat over your ideas for your wedding day.

To make everything easier for you, a selection of wedding ceremonies, vows, ring vows, poetry and  readings will be made available to you to help you on your way.  My help is always at hand either by email, fax, phone or in person.  All the material can be used as is or you may like to cut and paste or write your own personal vows to each other.  Think about including family or close friends in your ceremony.  There are many different ways and I am more than happy to discuss these with you.  Australia is a vast country with many different cultural traditions – perhaps you may like to include a particular tradition in your ceremony.

Other small ceremonies that can be included within your wedding are

            Rose Ceremony
            Sand Ceremony
            Candle Ceremony
            Sharing of Wine

or a presentation to parents for their continued love and support throughout your life.

All my couples and their parents receive a beautifully presented copy of the wedding ceremony in the form of a small memento booklet.  As the day seems to pass so quickly, it is nice to sit quietly some time after the wedding day is over and read the beautiful words that were said.

ARRIVING IN AUSTRALIA TO BE MARRIED

How wonderful if you are being married in our country with its many scenic venues.
A “Notice of Intended Marriage” form can either be mailed or faxed to you and if a letter for Immigration is required for a spouse that can be organized for you.
